I love handmade gifts — they’re so much more special than store-bought ones because of the time and love that goes into them.
These easy DIY printable gift tags make a nice finishing touch to your handmade gift (or your store-bought one!).
They’d go great on a parcel of Christmas cookies, any wrapped gift, or simply tied to the handle of a gift bag.
While I’ve used kraft paper card stock for my base, this is totally interchangeable with white or whatever colour suits your wrap or colour scheme.
Make them in bulk now and have them ready to go for giving season!
How to make DIY printable gift tags
You will need:
- Card stock (kraft paper colour, white, or your choice of base)
- Construction paper in a range of colours
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Ribbon or twine
- Hole punch
How to:
Print the base to card stock, and the shape pages to ordinary construction paper. It’s actually easier for the shapes to be in regular, thin, paper, but you can use card stock if you want.
Cut out the base shapes. Cut the shape pages in half, then fold along the dotted line. Score the dotted lines along the centre of the shapes while your paper is folded by running a scoring tool or a blunt metal knife along the line to create an indent. This is an important step for this craft.
Cut out the shapes while the page is still folded. You will get six of each shape from each half-page you score and cut this way — enough to make two tags.
Fold along the scored line, and glue the shapes in a stack of three. You can mix and match the colours if you like, or leave them all the same. It’s up to you.
You now have a 3D paper shape. Glue it to a tag, punch a hole in it, and thread with ribbon or twine.
All done!
Super-simple and also super-pretty!
