Make a super easy washcloth bunny craft this Easter (also known as boo boo bunnies).

Our bunnies are no-sew and are easy enough for kids make. They make adorable handmade Easter gifts too! We’ve put chocolate eggs in the back of ours but you could swap this for a strawberry heart soap or similar.

These washcloth bunnies are a nostalgic craft project made from a happy childhood memory.

When I was a kid my Nan would frequent the local craft markets. She was more of a craft fan than a crafter herself – I don’t think I ever saw her crafting in her life.

But, she loved to buy handcrafts and send them to her grandchildren as Christmas & birthday gifts. She would mail parcels filled with wrapped up pretty things to me and my sister. We loved it!

One year we received bunnies just like this, but with a scented smelly soap in the back instead of a chocolate egg. My sister (being the oldest & therefore the cleverest) pulled her bunny apart & figured out how to make them, so she showed me how to do it. We would make them from the old washers in Mum’s cupboard which is where the inspiration for this project came from.

One year I decided to make them for the girls as an Easter gift – but from Mum not the Easter bunny. They are super easy and quick to make too, here’s how.

You will need

  • Washers or flannels (or whatever you call them in your country) – one per bunny
  • An elastic band
  • A piece of ribbon
  • Googly eyes
  • A cotton ball or pom pom
  • A button or small pink pom pom for the nose
  • Glue
  • A chocolate egg or a small soap for the back

How to:

Lay your washer flat on the table and roll it into a long tube starting from one corner.

Fold the tube in half and pinch together.

Bend the two tips back over themselves and tie with an elastic band. The shape now resembles a bunny and all you need to do is decorate it.

Washcloth bunny craft step 4

Tie a piece of ribbon over the top of the elastic band.

Glue on your eyes, nose and tail and your bunny is complete!

The girls adored receiving them as Easter gifts back when they were preschoolers, now I think I’ll teach them how to make one themselves.
